Because of the many different recipes for making crystal meth you can never know how the drug will effect you from use to use. While one time you may experience no adverse side effects the next time may kill you. There is no standardized way of making crystal meth. 
Meth addicts will change the way they behave. If you suspect that someone you care about is using meth, observe any drastic changes in their behavior. If they were once open and outgoing and now are closed off and secretive this is a sign of addiction.
In some extreme cases, meth-related psychosis lasts for years. However, in these unique cases, experts believe the drug has probably brought-on symptoms of a pre-existing mental disorder.
