Using meth can cause many of the same physical effects as other stimulants such as: increased physical activity, increased wakefulness, increased respiration, decreased appetite, rapid heart rate, irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure and hyperthermia.
It was not until the 1990's traces of crystal meth addiction became widespread again. Today as law enforcement work towards eradicating the black market supply of crystal meth, they have upgraded this drug as a class An illegal substance and have since amended the punishment for those being caught with illegal supply of crystal meth to face at least seven years imprisonment.

Babies born to meth addicted mothers will act like premature infants even if they are born full-term. They will have trouble sucking and swallowing, sensitivity to touch, shaking or tremors, and often demonstrate abnormal reflexes and extreme irritability.
Although crystal meth is known to cause extreme weight loss the effects are not permanent and many regular meth users experience adaptation where the weight loss no longer occurs as the body becomes used to the effects of the crystal meth. When this happens habitual users may even start to gain weight.
