Meth users who take the drug in high-doses or long binges are susceptible to stimulant psychosis. If this happens the psychotic user may feel intensely paranoid, hear voices, and experience bizarre delusions. They may feel that other people are talking about them or following them.

Research has shown that extended abuse of meth can cause damage to the users brain similar to that caused by Alzheimer's disease, stroke and epilepsy. This brain damage lingers for months and even after the user stops taking the drug.
Even though methamphetamine can be prescribed by a doctor, its medicinal uses are limited and the doses that are prescribed are much lower than those typically abused. Medical methamphetamine is a Schedule II drug and is available only through a prescription that cannot be refilled.
