Some people take meth because of the long-lasting high that it gives. Methamphetamine causes numerous neurotransmitters to be released in the brain, producing a sense of euphoria that may last as long as 12 hours, depending on how the drug was taken. 
Some meth addicts feel as though insects are creeping on or under their skin causing them to pick at their skin and create ugly abscesses and scars.
Meth effects take place quickly creating rapid pleasurable feelings that are then followed by feelings of depression and irritability when the drug wears off.
When a meth addict is on a run (continually using meth until they physically cant use it anymore or have no more money to buy more) they may inject as much as a gram of meth every two to three hours over the course of several days.
Meth addiction has many negative health consequences including extreme weight loss, severe dental problems (meth mouth), anxiety, confusion, insomnia, mood disturbances, and violent behavior.
