Even after a meth lab has been discovered and those living and working there have been evacuated, toxic contamination is left behind that has to be cleaned up. Toxic contamination lingers of the labs surfaces including furniture, curtains, bedspreads, flooring, air vents, eating surfaces, and walls.
When the drug user takes meth it releases dopamine rapidly in reward regions of their brain producing the intense euphoria, or rush, that many users feel after snorting, smoking, or injecting the drug.
When meth is snorted it creates an euphoric sensation, but not a rush like injecting or smoking the drug does.
When meth is being cooked the toxic vapors created seep into the buildings plaster, wood, upholstery and any other porous surfaces.
Today, meth has become more popular than cocaine among persons 18 years and younger. A recent study reported that teenagers perceive meth as safer, longer lasting and easier to buy than cocaine.
