Meth is a drug that is abused by a wide range of age and socio-economic groups. The most common user of meth used to be an adult male with a lower than average income. Today, meth users can be from all ages, all genders and any economic status.

Females often take crystal meth because it can cause extremely rapid weight loss. However, the effects are short term. The body builds up a tolerance to the drug so weight loss tapers off and stops around six weeks after taking the drug. For these reasons, combined with how addictive the drug is, methamphetamine tends not to be prescribed by doctors for weight loss.
