When meth is combined with heroin it is known as a "speedball."
Crystal meth labs produce strong odors similar to that of nail polish remover. Meth cooks usually rent rooms paying cash, and always keep windows and doors closed or tinted for privacy. They often have items such as antifreeze; drain cleaner, filters, batteries, clear glass beakers and containers available.
Recent studies by the Monitoring the Future Survey shows that meth use among teens appears to have dropped from 4.7% in 1999 to 1.2% in 2009.
In 2005 there were an estimated 2.4 million current (past month) meth users over the age of 12.
