Red P is a common meth cooking method using red phosphorus. Red phosphorus is found in safety matches, flares and smoke bombs.
Meth is abused in both urban and rural areas and use is equally divided among males and females.
A majority of meth users take the drug in combination with alcohol and marijuana.
Addiction treatment professionals have found that meth abusers do not necessarily need specialized treatment to conquer their addiction. However, they do need more time in intensive outpatient or residential drug treatment programs than they would normally receive.
Although crystal meth is known to cause extreme weight loss the effects are not permanent and many regular meth users experience adaptation where the weight loss no longer occurs as the body becomes used to the effects of the crystal meth. When this happens habitual users may even start to gain weight.
