When smoked or injected ice crystal meth can produce effects within seconds. With smoking or IV ice crystal meth; there is an intense rush that lasts only for a few minutes.
Meth was developed by a Japanese chemist in 1919 and used during World War II to help soldiers stay alert and to energize factory workers.
Addiction treatment professionals have found that meth abusers do not necessarily need specialized treatment to conquer their addiction. However, they do need more time in intensive outpatient or residential drug treatment programs than they would normally receive.
Meth use can cause long-lasting cognitive impairment. The user may suffer from a compromised ability to learn and perform basic verbal tasks and motor skills.
